Tobias Hegewald returns to F2 after a season competing in the inaugural GP3 championship, where poor luck and misfortune struck frequently, preventing him from displaying his true talent.

This was not the case in 2009, when he shone in the equal environment of F2. The young German finished sixth overall in the championship with three podiums, and the highlight of the season was undoubtedly his dominant performance at Spa-Francorchamps. Remarkably, he was fastest in both practice sessions, both qualifying sessions and won both races, recording the fastest lap in each. He collected nine points finishes in total, and a third place at Donington Park.

Before competing in F2 Tobias competed in Formula Palmer Audi, Formula BMW USA and Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup, taking five poles and three wins in the 2009 season.

2011  FIA Formula Two Championship  6th overall, 2 podiums, 1 pole

2009  FIA Formula Two Championship  6th, 3 wins
2008  FRenault Northern European Cup  3rd, 1 win

"My last season was not very successful so I hope to live up to my success which I had in my F2 year. I want to do a good performance in the tests and then I can see where I am. I didn't drive for a long time and I haven't sat in a car since the last race, which was in the end of September, so I have to get my rhythm first!"
