Riccardo Brutschin eyes F2 switch
German F3 racer impresses in Barcelona
Riccardo Brutschin is considering a move to Formula Two in 2012
after being one of the standout drivers during the recent official
test at the Circuit de Catalunya.
The German driver managed to finish inside the top 10 in all of the
eight sessions held throughout the two days, including ending the
final day sixth overall and just a few tenths off the leader's
pace.
What's more, the test session marked the 19-year-old's debut in the
JPH1B F2 car following a successful season spent in German Formula
3 this year after taking the ATS Formula 3 Trophy title in 2010
with 12 wins from 18 races.
Speaking exclusively to Formulatwo.com Brutschin said: "The test
went well and I got better and better as the test went on. The car
feels good and I feel that my times are comparable with the drivers
that have raced before. My target was always to match their speed
line and I feel confident I've done that."
He added: "For sure F2 remains an option for next year. I like the
car and the power and the calendar is really good too and features
my home circuit of the Nűrburgring!"
Brutschin's father Harald already has links with Formula Two having
raced in 1981 and 1982 racing alongside F2 Chief Executive Jonathan
Palmer.
